This past Sunday Greg and I met up with Liesl and Jason at City Park in Denver for their engagement session! While we had just met them briefly a few weeks before, they instantly felt like new friends we have known forever. And despite being midwinter, we got perfect light and temperatures. It was sunny and in the high 40s, which if you live in Colorado, it actually pretty nice for January! Also, since the snow has been pretty sparse since November the grounds were perfectly golden, reflecting the perfect warm and glowy romantic light onto these two.
From the moment our session with these two started, they were absolute pros in front of the camera. I would start to give them direction and they would naturally melt together—making my job WAY too easy!! I always tell my couples, that no one is ever a pro in front of the camera, but I will tell you where to put everything so that you look like you are. With these two though, no coaching was needed!
I loved spending my time with them exploring what City Park has to offer. Winter sessions can be a little trickier, because there is less greenery to create shade, and with mostly dead trees, getting angles right is so important. Thankfully, the location offered to many options that we got plenty of great nature vibes (that looked more like fall!!) and great city views as well. Typically, in Colorado, it is all about the mountains and nature, but I loved how these two wanted to embrace the beauty of Denver as well. It was so nice getting to shoot a different location.
Their wedding is coming up in August and we are so excited to capture it. The venue, Cherokee Ranch and Castle, is a dream come true and I am counting down the days until we get to shoot there.
