Engagement Outfit Tips
Hey there bride-to-be! Today we are going to be talking about all things fashion! The number ONE question I get asked by my brides is ‘What should we wear to our engagement session?”. It is honestly asked so much that I am SHOCKED I have not written a blog post on this yet! And that changes today! Today we are going to talk all about what you should wear to your engagement session! Below are our 4 tips for picking outfits you love and that will look great on camera.
Unless you are a princess going to royal engagements day in and day out, the chances you get to dress up are probably fairly limited. So why not use your engagement session as a chance to wear an outfit that you wouldn’t normally wear on a day-to-day basis. Wear a fancy maxi dress that makes you feel like a princess. Or wear a regal sequin dress that is fit for the red carpet. Have your eye on a pastel chiffon maxi skirt that you have seen all over Instagram–get it! Wear a lace dress that inspires romantic feelings
Basically, what I am saying, is you only take engagement photos once, so take advantage of the opportunity and dress up!
P.S. A fancy outfit doesn’t need to cost a ton either! I got an amazing Maxi chiffon skirt on Amazon for $20!! And Rent the Runway is always my go-to for great outfits for one of a kind events.
Maree and Nolan’s really wanted an upscale look for their engagement session. She picked a dress from rent the runway that she had been eying and it is one of my favorite looks ever!
Do you just love showing off your killer calves? Or do you love the way your collar bones pop in off the shoulder tops/dresses? Then be sure to look for options that highlight your favorite features! And, on the flip side of this, if there is something you hate showing off, be sure to pick an option that does not showcase that area. So if you don’t like how you look in tank-tops, try a dress with cap sleeves or even 3/2 sleeves.
Dressing in the same pair of jeans and a white T-shirt is definitely something that needs to be left in the ’90s! For your engagement session, you want to pick outfits that coordinate with each other. You should each wear a different dominant color, but keep the colors within a similar color pallet. For example, if you wore a blush and cream dress, a gray and cream/white outfit with a blush tie for him would be a great option. You each have your dominant colors, and a similar color to bring the outfits together.
A lot of coordinating is about balance too! So if you choose to wear a darker color, like a black dress. Then having your fiance in a lighter color, like a light blue button up, is a good option. The dark and light create a visually appealing balance.
Are you between having a nice casual outfit that feels true to you, and a fun fancy one that feels fun? Why not wear both! Many of our clients choose both a casual ‘date night’ outfit and a fancy one of a kind look too!
Last but not least, and this should go without saying, is that no matter what you pick to wear it should be something you love!
