Located in the heart of Orange County, California, Heritage Museum is one of the most versatile and gorgeous venues in the region. The elven and a half acre historic plaza features the stunning Kellogg house, rustic Maag Farmhouse, alongside blooming rose gardens, aromatic citrus groves, and lush fields. The versatility of the venue allows couples to make it their own. From modern to rustic the only limitations to making this venue exactly what you want is your imagination. While the venue is expansive, it has a private estate feel and allows ceremony and reception to flow together, without feeling overwhelming.
While Heritage Museum of Orange County functions as a wedding venue, they are also an educational based non-profit that seeks to teach school-age children (and the community) about Victorian life. The dedicated heritage team focuses on promoting, preserving and restoring the heritage of Orange County with an educational based approach. They offer many events throughout the year that focus on providing educational enrichment for the residents of Orange County. Additionally, they offer many volunteer opportunities as well, allowing their past couples to come and help preserve the location where they started their happily ever after! Once you are part of the Heritage family, you are not forgotten!
Heritage Museum of Orange County provides a blank slate to each couple, with various offerings to allow wedding visions come to life. From lush garden dinner parties with al fresco lighting to elegant plated dinners under the patio, we have seen so many well-executed styles.
Two hours before ceremony time the venue closes to the public for the couple and their guest to enjoy. This allows us to capture gorgeous pre-ceremony photos throughout the expansive grounds. Because of the two hour window, most of our brides choose to get their hair and makeup done at a nearby hotel or our personal favorite an Air BNB and then arrive fully dressed to take pre-ceremony images.
Heritage Museum provides breathtaking ceremony sites all throughout the property, offering a variety of styles to fit any wedding vision.
Our personal favorite, the beautifully landscaped gazebo, and manicured lawn area provide the ideal backdrop and light for wedding vows all year long. A favorite among Heritage brides as well, the site holds over 200 guests. This part of the venue gets the GLOWIEST light and when you schedule your ceremony 90 minutes before sunset, this spot cannot be beat!
The rose garden as a reception site allows for an open-air reception surrounded by lush gardens. The site allows for over 250 guests to dine on the beautiful lawn with al fresco lighting twinkling above. The rose garden backdrop provides a romantic summer vibe that we completely love! This is the PERFECT spot if you are having a summer or spring wedding, the greenery adds so much life and vibrace to your day!
Surrounded by the jasmine walkway, aromatic citrus groves, romantic lighting, and the beautiful rose garden, the backyard pavilion provides a popular spot for reception dancing and dining. The covered patio is the most popular reception site and allows for up to 200 guests to enjoy the intimate style reception.
The Kellogg house can serve as the backdrop for either cocktail hour or ceremony. The turn of the century style house is perfect if you want to highlight the beautiful Victorian feel of the venue. The house also makes for the best backdrop for family and wedding party images, allowing you to capture the elegance of the venue in your photos.
The Maag House can also provide for either a ceremony or reception backdrop. This spot can hold up to 650 guests and is the most unique backdrop offered. It does require extensive planning and a bit more rentals, but is so worth it and gives you a truly unique spot at an already unique venue.
The best part about Heritage Museum is that their flexible and experienced staff are happy to help you bring your wedding vision to life. The unique ability to use the entire venue gives you the option to separate events, giving each their own distinct feel. A ceremony at the beautiful gazebo can transition into cocktail hour in front of the stunning Kellogg house and finish the night with dancing and dining in the rose garden. The ability to separate the events allows for true transitions for guest and a stress-free night for couples.
This is our go-to first look spot. It provides an intimate setting with glowly light! And during the right time of the year, the most amazing looking and smelling jasmine!!
The gospel swamp is the most unique part of the venue! It provides an area to capture photos in a natural outdoor setting—right in the middle of a city. The rolling hills and long grass are perfect for sunset captures. Also, the orange groves are just so romantic! They give a nod to the history or Orange County, and add some great greenery to the venue!
Heritage Museum is the perfect size to hold an intimate gathering or a large party. While most outside vendors are allowed, the museum does require catering and rentals through their preferred vendor list. However, Country Garden Caterers (OUR FAVORITE) has packages starting at just $45/pp including basic rentals!! (this may change). They are competitively priced and try to work with all budgets.
Venue closes at midnight on Friday and Saturday and 10:00pm on other nights! Music via band or DJ is allowed, and allowed until closing time!
They allow pets! We have seen everything from petting zoos to puppy flower girls!
One of our FAVORITE features of this venue is that you are supporting a nonprofit by having your wedding here. Plus, part of your event fee is tax deductible, and after the cost of a wedding—that is pretty helpful!
Also, brides and grooms get a membership and many returns to assist with volunteer events.
