We get asked all the time, should we include our puppies in our engagement session? Our response is always the same—it is totally up to you! However, we thought it might be helpful to provide three reasons you totally should include your fur-family and one reason you may want to reconsider.
Does your fur-baby take up more space on your Instagram than your fiancé? Then maybe that is a sign they should totally be featured in your photos! Greg and I get it; corgi was our first baby. There was even one time where I legit put him on a swing in a park. Yeah, I was that dog mom. We understand how big of a role our fur family play in our lives. So then why wouldn’t we include them in such a special occasion! If you want to truly document who you are and the stage of life you are in, it completely makes sense to include your dogs.
One thing we always suggest is for our clients to add their own personal flair to their session. Whether this is a location near and dear to your heart or a fun prop, it always adds to the session. And while your fur baby is not a prop, they do add personality to your session. What is more fun than snuggling both your fiancé and your pup!
Are you super nervous for your session? Have you never been in front of a professional camera before? First off—don’t worry. I will have you feeling natural in no time and before you know it, you won’t even realize a camera is there. However, if you know your pup instantly calms you then bring them! We want you to feel as comfortable as possible. If that means brining your puppy for comforting snuggles—we’re all game!
As much as we love our fur babies, adding them to a session can add a bit of stress to the session too. While we do our best to make you feel comfortable and relaxed, the nerves of having your photo taken may start to creep up on you. Mix a bit of nerves with trying to wrangle your pups, and it may create a little bit of overwhelm during the session. If you are worried about being over whelmed or not enjoying yourself because you will be too focused on your pet—it may be a good idea to leave them at home. We want your engagement session to be fun, relaxed and enjoyable so we don’t want to add any unneeded stress.
