The wedding march began and guest held their breath in anticipation of Chelsea coming down the aisle. Instead, in the distance they could hear gentle clacking coming from horses that would have put Cinderella’s mares to shame. Chelsea came down the pebbled path with her dad, in the most elegant carriage, being pulled by gorgeous white horses. As she approached, you could her guest ‘aww’ in admiration. As she descended the carriage and walked towards Matt, we could see friends and family grab the closes tissue, which were very much needed! Chelsea was a bridal vision, walking towards Matt, who could not have been beaming any wider. Matt’s boyish grin got larger as Chelsea approached, knowing in just moments she would finally be his wife.
The day progressed in a whirlwind with sun kissed light and lush flowers surrounding us. As the friends chatted, laughed, and drank we finally got to my favorite moment of the day. Chelsea’s dad stood in front of their guest with a champagne glass in his hand and the look of a proud father on his daughters wedding day in his eyes. He had, an hour before, walked her down the aisle and gave away his little girl to Matt. A man he welcomed into his family with open arms. A man that he knew would give his little girl the love and support she deserves. As he spoke, he beamed at his daughter, and you could see the pride in his eyes. He began to impart his wisdom that had come from his own 35 years of marriage.
As he shared about love, marriage, and commitment, he walked around the family table and honored the years of marriage each set of parents and grandparents had reached. He talked about the example they set, the love they shared, and the hopes he had for Chelsea and Matt. As he spoke, it brought us back to the ceremony, where we were reminded what a privilege marriage is. We get the privilege each day of loving someone and being marriage to them. It was so eye opening to us and made us look at our marriage that much closer. Not only is it a privilege to be married to Greg, but it is a privilege to be able to celebrate the marriage of others as well. 90 weddings into this journey of being a wedding photographer and we’re still in awe that we get the privilege of calling this our job.
It was a true privilege to be the ones capturing Chelsea and Matt’s day. The venue was lush and breathtaking, the flowers were everywhere you looked, and the smiles on everyone’s faces never faded. However, the pretty day wasn’t what made this day an honor to capture. Being able to capture the love of Chelsea and Matt is what made this an honor. These two love each other so fiercely and it is so apparent that they are each other’s best friends. They also have an amazing support system. We had an amazing time with their 17 people wedding party and left feeling like we had some new friends as well. Everyone we had the honor of interacting with was so sweet, kind, and welcoming—just like Chelsea and Matt.
