Their love story is one that was 14 years in the making and one that was worth every second of waiting.
Melanie and Paul’s day involved her grandmother’s heirlooms, vintage touches and a garter handed down from Melanie’s mother. So many small items put together to make one huge and heartfelt gesture on her wedding day.
The day started very low key and quiet at Melanie’s house. While the morning involved the hustle and bustle of 9 girls getting ready, there was also a very calming presence as well. After getting ‘camera ready’ the girls headed to the beautiful Heritage Museum Orange County to get the wedding day started! Once Melanie was ready to step into her beautiful tea length dress (that she drove all the way to Bellflower for by the way), the day was really ready to get started!
During their ceremony, the officiant told a beautiful story about a small chapel in Iowa. This chapel has a bell, and after every ceremony, the priest invites the bride to ring the bell. The bride grabs hold of the rope and tries to ring the bell, but it does not budge. The priest then has the two pull it together. Once they both pull together, it rings and a joyful sound is spread throughout the little town. The priest then tells the couple that this is the first lesson of their new life together. That in marriage you will both need to put the effort in, in order to have success. It was such a lovely story and one that really stuck with Greg and me.
After the ceremony, our second favorite moment of the day was during their couple portraits. We were letting them have a quiet moment, and capturing a few images while they walked towards us… That is when Melanie exclaimed “I remember this!” followed by “This is why you have engagement sessions–I get it now!”. At which point, I basically felt my job was done ;).
While their day was calm the night definitely brought the party! Once some Persian music started playing I don’t think there was a single person still in their seats. We had a great time capturing this fun and loving couple dance the night away.
Melanie & Paul, thank you so much for allowing us to capture your day. We just adore you two and wish you nothing but joy and happiness in the years to come. Marriage may not always be easy, but it always is worth it!
